A sure sign that “spring has sprung” here in Medford is the welcome appearance of the bright yellow-green flowers of Norway maple trees (‘Acer platanoides’). “Maple trees have flowers?” you may ask.

Norway maple, Acer platanoides, started blooming this week in Central New York. The flowers are greenish-yellow and small, but there are masses of them. Norway maple pollen is moderately allergenic.
